Hi and welcome to my blog! The first thing I have learned is to Save Draft! Holy Cow I just spent all that time creating my first post and went to Preview….. and “that site cannot be found”. Hmph. Oh well, maybe God is telling me I don’t need to share quite that much? LOL.
My name is Dori, and I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life. I was blessed to be able to retire in 2017 and I am loving watching my great grand babies, Wesley and Willow, and crafting my art out! I have previously cross stitched and embroidered (in my 20s), scrapbooked (in my 30s and 40s), and made seaglass jewelry and art in my 50s. In 2017 a mentor of mine suggested I send a card to someone I was having a difficult relationship with, and I couldn’t find an appropriate sentiment in the store (“you are my favorite….”; “I can always count on you…”) so I made one. A very inept one, but I made one, and I mailed it. And it felt good!! So I started making cards for other people in my life, but I knew I had to be able to do better! I know I am artistic and creative! And I happened upon (you-know-who!) Jennifer McGuire. I’m not sure how since I didn’t use Youtube and didn’t know about the card making community. But that has started a whole new obsess er… love for the art of card making! And I was involved in the scrapbooking community when I was into that craft and loved entering challenges and posting layouts on boards of clubs whose kits I bought. Giving and getting support was part of the community and who doesn’t love and need that! I’ve posted a few cards on Instagram (dori.leslie – check it out!) and decided a blog was the next step so I could join challenges on the sites of the manufacturers whose products I love.
Stay tuned! I will be posting some cards soon from my kits from Simon Says Stamps Hero Arts, Spellbinders, Gina K…. and others!
