“One of my strengths is the ability to show “empathy” for others. Whether it is a team member, guest, family, or friend. I try to put myself in their shoes. For example, when a guest has a complaint, I tried to empathize with them. I explained that I know how they feel and that I would feel the same way. Then I will listen and work with them to solve the problem. The same goes with our team members. First thing in the morning, I go to team members at each of our hotels and see how they are doing and let them know how much I appreciate their work. I also find out what’s going on in their lives and offer a bit of encouragement and a smile. I always let them know how much I appreciate them and they do the same for me.”
